SwissNewCoFeed crawler

If you found SwissNewCoFeed/1.0 in your server logs: that is us. When a company is newly entered in the Swiss commercial register, we look for its website and deliver the website address, e-mail address, phone number and contact page that the site publishes to our business customers, who offer services to new companies. See the privacy policy for what we do with them.

What it does

• It guesses a few domains from the company name (for example name.ch, name.com, name.swiss) and opens the start page of those that exist.
• On a site, it reads at most three more pages linked from the start page: contact, imprint or about pages. It reads no other pages and fills in no forms.
• It takes the website only if a page proves it belongs to the company (UID, full company name, or name with the registered address), and then only the e-mail address, phone number and contact page the site publishes.
• It looks at most three times per company: at publication, after 14 and after 42 days, and stops once a website is found.
• It follows robots.txt, waits at most 8 seconds per page and reads at most 1.5 MB.
